Why does my liver hurt after taking multivitamins?
I generally don't eat multivitamins unless I'm on a diet, like right now. Unfortunately, after few days of taking them, my liver starts to hurt. I can tolerate Flintstones multivitamins for children though. Which specific vitamin or mineral might be aggrevating my liver?

- I never heard that before but they did claim that protein shakes can start to damage your liver email me for more info
- if your liver hurts ever, see a doctor really.
- Well, I don't know how you can tell that it is specifically aggravating your liver. If Flintstones don't bother you then just take those. It is probably the dosage of one of the vitamins in the adult kind that is bothering you, not a specific vitamin. Compare the two and see if there is one particular vitamin in one that isn't in the other. Narrow it down that way.
- You might be taking too many of them, or nothing else with them. Back off for a few days to let your system clear out. Then resume and follow the dosage recommendations on the label. Take them with food.
- You need to drink more water or cranberry juice. Multivitamins try to release healthy supplements into the body and kick out waste but needs help flushing out of the body.
- how can you tell that is is your liver that's hurting??? it might not be the vitamins that's affecting you. it could be the diet that your are on that's making you sick
- You should really talk to your doctor, to have your liver enzymes checked and also have a hepatitis panel done. It sounds as if your liver is not functioning properly. That's how I discovered that I have liver disease anyway. Someone with a malfunctioning liver should not take vitamins or any meds that are not absolutely neccasary. Most medicines are filtered through your liver, and if you have any sort of liver disease then the vitamins your taking may be making it worse. My doctor told me that vitamins are even worse on you liver than meds and that I am not to take them at all. Yahoo health has a lot of information on this.
