Is it safe to give my 2 year old chewable vitamins?
He's currently taking enfamil liquid vitamins and has since he was about a year old. Now that he's able to chew I wanted to switch him to something less expensive (those liquid vitamins run at about $10.00 a bottle).

- I'd double check with your Pediatrician only to check on dosage (maybe a half is okay? Mabye a whole?) but yes, my 18 month old is on chewables because she refused to take that stinky liquid any longer.
- Yes its fine as long as he is able to chew well.I would only give him half of one though.I dont think you give them a whole one until around the age of 5.
- If he's chewing most foods okay, it's probably fine, just make sure he has chewed and swallowed the whole thing before turning your back. And check the dosage per his weight.
- Hi! I am a mom of four and have given my kids flintstones vitamins from the time they were 2 up. I did speak with my pediatrician about it, to make sure it was safe, and they said the warnings on the bottle are for those parents who give them to the kids as candies. (Believe me, lots of parents do, because they taste good, and kids like the shapes, so parents use them as "Treats.") If you compare the back of the bottle and the levels of vitamins, you'll notice that the hard vitamins are only very slightly over the amount on the liquid version. And mild amounts of excess vitamins are evacuated from their bodies. (Expect a little darker urine, so increase their liquid intake to help process it.) If you're really worried about it, talk to your pediatrician. Otherwise, if your son is fine chewing crackers, pieces of apple, and other harder food items, he will be fine with the vitamins.
- I think you can. The back of the vitamin bottle will tell you how much to give him. My son had some chewables that said take a whole one and others that said take half of one.
- I would try the 'gummy' type vitamins. If he can chew a gummy bear, then he should be fine. They are just like the candy and are not as hard as the regular chewables. Godd Luck.
- I give my 2 year old Flintstone vitamins. He doesn't like taking them...once he starts chewing it a little instead of spitting it out, he does fine.
- He's old enough to start taking them, buy a pack and give him one, i tried my son out too early on those and he vomited it all up. but the only way you going to know is if you try. good luck
- It is completely safe to give your child chewable vitamins at two it may only be a half a vitamin that you give though. Just make sure that you are giving the same type of vitamin. Like my takes vitamins with floride
- My daughter will be 2 next month and she has a half of a Flinstones vitamin everyday. I see no problem with it.
- Yes. Flinstones makes one safe for toddlers. Ages 2 and up. That way you don't have to split it in half. Just make sure you put them somewhere that they CANNOT get to. Poison if they overdose.
