What vitamins and supplements should I be taking?
I am six weeks pregnant and just wanted to know what vitamins and supplements I should be considering. I will ask my doctor when I see him later this week but I was just curious so I have a better idea when I ask him.

- You should be taking prenatal vitamins right now. You buy them over the counter at any place that sells vitamins (Walmart, Walgreen's, CVS and so on) they are in the vitamin isle. When you go to get them make sure you also get a prenatal vitamin that contains DHA. If they do not sell a brand that has DHA in it just buy plain Plant derived DHA tablets also.
- Try a multivitamin, it contains a bit of everything... so must have some good stuff =D Good Luck!
- Prenatal vitamins are optional. If you consume a healthy diet rich in folic acid, vitamins and minerals, you don't need to take anything.
- Any prenatal vitamins or women health vitamins that have the nourishment your baby will need to grow. I recommend a prenatal vitamin with DHA for healthy baby brain & eye development. A doctor prescription prenatal vitamin is not necessary. Most local drug stores, like CVS or Walgreens, even Walmart or Krogers usually has them. They are a little bit pricey, but they are worth it. But eating healthy is a necessity too. Good luck with baby! Mercedes
- I took that One A Day womens prenatal vitamin, theres 1 for you & 1 for the baby.I bought them at Walmart.( Also try to take them at the same time everyday & up until you deliver)
- Before I got pregnant I had discussed with my doctor and she recommended getting some over the counter prenatal vitamins from like Wal-Mart and take those during the TTC process. I continued taking those until my doctor prescribed Duet DHA. I have been taking those since about 6 weeks.
- PRENATAL VITAMINS. ANY OTHER SUPPLEMENT/VITAMIN YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING. BUT DEFFINETLY GET ON PRENATAL VITAMINS ASAP! :)
- im in australia, and we use fgf which is a folic acid with iron tablet you get them from a chemist. 30tablets in a bottle and anywhere from$6 - $14
- Folate is really good for pregnant women. It helps to avoid the baby having spina bifida - a condition where the spinal cord isn't developed properly. My partner's friend have a spina bifida, he was able to walk when he was young but now at 26..he's in a wheelchair and needs an assistance pretty much 24/7.
